Biggest Loser Contest Details 

Enrollment is from July 1st through September 31st, 2010.

The Contest:

The contest will be made up of two: one for cats and one for dogs.  Each group will have six months to try to achieve their goal weights from the time they start the contest.  The winners will be decided by determining whoever had the highest percentage of weight loss.  Winners will be decided after the last pet has completed their six month weight loss period.

How do I enter?

Just let one of our doctors or our hospital staff know that you are interested in getting involved.  Your pet's weight loss will be calculated from the first day that they enroll.

Why are we doing this?

More than anything, this is about your pet's health.  Obesity is, without a doubt, one of the most common diseases we see.  Excess weight contributes to many health problems.  We would like to help get your pet to a healthy, happy weight.

How are we going to do this?

The SJV team will work with you to create a number of methods to help your pet lose weight.  First, we'll comprise a healty diet plan that is right for them.  We'll also work with you to create a good exercise plan that works for both of you. 

There are other options that may or may not be right for your pet.  Your veterinarian will be happy to discuss any or all of these with you.  These include special prescription diet foods, the use of Slentrol (a safe, effective weight loss drug for dogs only), and our underwater treadmill.  The treadmill is a low-impact, fun way to help your pet get a great workout on a regular basis.
